Little Free Gallery Project (2016) converted sixteen “little free libraries” throughout Portland into miniature galleries exhibiting art installations. Local artists worked with library box owners to create sixteen new site-specific art pieces. A bike tour of selected sites was coordinated through Pedalpalooza, a long-standing Portland bike event.

Mission

‘Little Free Gallery Project strives to provide exhibition opportunities for emerging Portland artists with a focus on temporal, site-specific, non-commodifiable work; work for which we believe Portland has an ongoing deficit. It embraces the opportunity to provide greater exposure for budding artists, and to foster community connections that would not otherwise have existed.’
