Bimble Gallery (2020-21) was a small mobile gallery that was developed during the Covid 19 Pandemic quarantine out of a deep need for connection and a desire to provide opportunities for art-showing & art-viewing when institutions were shuttered. We converted an old newspaper stand to a mobile gallery with lathe flooring, white gallery walls, and recessed lighting.
As it traveled from site to site, Bimble energized and activated spaces that were overlooked; urban street corners, commercial businesses, and bustling sidewalks— with original work by local artists, making art-viewing accessible to anyone, and reorienting a formal gallery format into common spaces.
Bimble Gallery debuted at Sou’wester Arts Week in March 2021 with a week worth of community workshops, mini-exhibitions, and engagements. In collaboration with Drew Laughery, Chandra Glaseman, Jen LaMastra.
